Our why.

Portland is a mecca for talented distance runners. While there’s no shortage of local running clubs or community track nights, our aim is to provide daily structure and support with a well-rounded training program for driven, motivated runners aiming to reach their potential within a supportive team environment.

Many runners, if they’re lucky, get their start in middle school, high school, or through their local youth league. Some go on to compete at a collegiate level. Some don’t take their first step until well into adulthood. Beyond that, attempting to train at a high level without a structured support network can be a lonely ordeal. Our aim is to provide that type of support system as well as structured training, whether one is fresh out of the collegiate system or looking to develop as a runner later in life.

Mission.

Established in 2017, Rose City Track Club is a grassroots running club and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by friends that value the spirit of competition, camaraderie, hard work, and love for the sport. Our mission is to provide a supportive and welcoming, team-based training platform for runners aspiring to be locally to nationally competitive, and to conduct accessible foot races for athletes of all abilities.

What you get.

RCTC members have access to weekly team runs, track workouts, and strength sessions. Throughout the year, members can also expect special sessions focused on injury prevention, nutrition, goal setting, and more. To give back, members also get regular opportunities to volunteer within the local running community. As a team, we put on the annual Rose City Mile – a fun, competitive, and accessible opportunity for runners of all ages and abilities to test themselves in the mile.

We accept runners of all abilities, though we recommend having at least two years of running experience before applying. If you need financial support, a portion of each membership fee goes toward our Financial Scholarship – benefitting athletes experiencing economic hardship. We also have an Emerging Athlete Award to support emerging athletes aiming to perform at the highest level.
